Today is World Diabetes Day! It is a day that seeks to engage millions of people in diabetes advocacy and awareness. In support of this goal, the Nancy Island theatre is illuminated with blue lights. November 14th was chosen as World Diabetes Day to mark the birthday of Frederick Banting who, along with Charles Best, invented the process for insulin in 1922, which became the treatment for diabetes.
If you would like to see this display for yourself, head to the Main Street bridge in Wasaga Beach for a view from the Nottawasaga River. The theatre itself was built to look like the sails of a schooner straining against the winds on Georgian Bay.
