In late September, the Friends of Nancy Island gathered at the Wasaga Beach Welcome Centre to accept the donation of an original watercolour painting of the Nancy presented by Paul Carroll, historian and writer of Great Lakes history, on behalf of Don Bamford, an avid sailor and author of FRESHWATER HERITAGE.
The artist, Charles L. Peterson, is a world-renowned maritime artist, whose work has won honours at the Mystic Seaport Museum in Connecticut. Visit his website for an overview of his work: http://www.clpetersonstudio.com/
The painting is now on display in the Treasure Chest Gift Shop in the Welcome Centre where visitors have the opportunity to admire Peterson’s work. Additionally, the book FOUR YEARS ON THE GREAT LAKES, 1813-1816, written by Don Bamford and Paul Carroll is available for purchase in the Treasure Chest.
Thank you, Don Bamford, for such a wonderful donation. And thank you to Paul Carroll for presenting the painting to the Friends.
