The Friends of Nancy Island and Wasaga Beach Park are pleased to help promote the release of a new book Sharing Memories: Stories of Wasaga’s Past. The book was written by Mary Watson, Wasaga Beach Town Archivist (and member of the Friends of Nancy Island!). It includes more than 30 stories about historical events and personalities from Wasaga’s past. There are also almost 200 photographs wonderfully reproduced to help tell the stories.
The official book launch took place on Saturday November 23 where author Mary Watson was thrilled with the initial response to the book. Many long-time residents dropped in to ensure they got a signed copy. However this is a book that would be a good read for newcomers to Wasaga also, to help understand why Wasaga has grown as it has over the years.
The book is now available for sale at the Chamber of Commerce, Foodland, Wasaga Beach Town Hall, Library, Archives, Pedro’s, Beach Builders/Home Hardware, Canadian Tire and IDA. The cost is $20 and it will make a great Christmas gift. All proceeds go to the Wasaga Beach Archives for the future creation of an archive/museum to properly preserve Wasaga’s history and house artifacts.
Congratulations, Mary!
